Thursday 14 May - Railtex

The forecast for today was rain so it was a good day to take the train to Birmingham International to visit Railtex the railway industry exhibition. My on-line enrollment was free and saved me GBP 20. It was an enormous show that brought together the entire rail supply industry. All aspects were represented both hardware and software and I had a number of interesting chats from people supplying ear protection, drug and alcohol programs and led lighting.
There is such a thing as a free lunch
I had a free Italian lunch complete with a tumbler of sparkling wine from a cable manufacturer and came away with a really nice canvas bag from Hitachi with a selection of pens, a mug and a memory stick. The UK railway industry is evidently flourishing.

The UK railway industry is vast and many companies are taking advantage to bring specialist knowledge to the fore.  All aspects of hardware and software are covered and there is significant back up in the form of University programs, training and specialist research organizations.

Dinner this evening was at the Armory with two local beers, Golden Arrow and Camelot, Mary had New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.
