Tuesday 2 June - Travel to London

We checked out of the apartment in good time to catch the train to Birmingham.  Shrewsbury station was in disarray because of flooding on the line just west of Newtown and while the trains, other than the Cambrian Coast line were running pretty much to time the stock working was pretty mixed up.

Our train to Birmingham left on time and we fell into conversation with the driver.  The cab had been taken over by an inspector and another driver so the regular man came back into the train as far as Wolverhampton.  He was a Shrewsbury man and we chatted all the way about how things were on Arriva Trains Wales today.  His place was taken by a couple who ran a pub in Telford and were on their honeymoon to Tenerife.  This was her first flight and she was nervous.
Our Pendolino at Birmingham New Stree
The London train started from Birmingham New Street so we had a leisurely transfer.  There were very few people in the Pendolino which made a fast, comfortable, on-time trip to Euston.

Lunch was at the Skinners Arms where I made the reservation for Thursday.

WE had a drink at the pub across the street from the hotel (Stanhope Arms?).  It had four cask ales on tap, Timothy Taylors Landlord, Fullers London Pride, Wells Bombardier and Taylor Walkers 1780 Westerham.  All of them winners.
