Wednesday 6 May - Shopping and other chores

The apartment is right across the street from the indoor market where there is a large range of butchers, greengrocers, higglers, bakers, cheesemongers and a fishmonger and other merchants available.  The produce looks fresh and will give us plenty of opportunity to try the local produce. There is one stand devoted entirely to pork pies and pasties.
This lady, who asked to have her picture taken, had an interesting selection of breads and baked goods for sale
There were many florists selling cut flowers and garden plants.

There was a good selection of cheeses

Meat and sausages
One whole stall was devoted to pies and pasties

Although the market building is covered the stalls have canvas cov erings as well
Razor clams and kippers at the fishmongers
Having stocked up on breakfast and other items we went back to the fish restaurant for lunch.  Mary had swordfish steak and I had the crab platter.  Both were well presented and excellent.

The Marks and Spencer food hall has Epoise and several other obscure french cheeses - amazing.

The tourist office has moved to a location close to the old market building.  We came out with a lot of tourist brochures and bus and rail timetables.  I now have a lot to study,
